Study Area:

The project “Topography and Drone Survey in Changunarayan” was conducted in the historic and culturally significant area of Changunarayan, located in Kathmandu Valley. This region is known for its ancient temples and scenic landscapes, which present unique challenges for accurate surveying. The area features a mix of urban and semi-urban environments with varying topographical features.

The survey aimed to address the need for precise boundary demarcation and detailed topographical mapping in a region that combines historical and contemporary land use. The diverse terrain and historical significance of the area necessitated thorough and accurate surveying methods to ensure proper land management and planning.

 Project Objectives:

– Boundary Demarcation and Property Delineation: Define the boundaries and delineate properties accurately to facilitate land management and development activities within the historic and culturally sensitive area of Changunarayan.

– Preparation of Topographical Maps: Develop detailed topographical maps to capture the land’s features and elevations, supporting effective land use planning and development.

 Deliverables:

– Ortho Photos: High-resolution orthophotos were generated to provide an accurate, geo-referenced view of the surveyed area. These images help in visualizing the landscape and integrating spatial data.

– Contour Maps: Detailed contour maps were created to illustrate the elevation changes and terrain variations in the region. These maps are essential for understanding the topography and planning land use.

– Digital Surface Models (DSM): DSMs were prepared to represent the earth’s surface, including buildings and vegetation. This data is useful for analyzing surface features and planning developments.

– Digital Terrain Models (DTM): DTMs were produced to depict the bare ground surface, excluding vegetation and structures. This model helps in understanding the true landform and is crucial for earthworks and other land modifications.

– Topographical Maps: Comprehensive topographical maps were developed to offer a detailed overview of the land’s features, aiding in planning and development efforts in the Changunarayan area.

The topography and drone survey in Changunarayan provided critical data for land management and development in a region with both historical and modern significance. The deliverables supported various planning and development activities, ensuring that projects align with the existing topography and land use constraints.
