- Drone Survey of Kharidhunga Mine Site
Study Area:
The Drone Survey of Kharidhunga Mine Site was conducted in Dolakha District, a region known for its mineral-rich landscape, including the well-known Kharidhunga mine, which is a major source of magnesite. The project aimed to use drone technology to gather high-resolution aerial data of the mine site to assist in planning, exploration, and extraction activities.
The rugged and expansive terrain of the mine site made traditional surveying methods challenging and time-consuming. By utilizing drone technology, the project team was able to capture accurate topographical data and high-resolution images, providing crucial insights into the site’s geography, accessibility, and operational planning.
Project Objectives:
Drone Image Acquisition: Use drones to capture high-resolution aerial images of the Kharidhunga mine site. These images were essential for creating accurate maps and models of the area, aiding in mineral exploration and site planning.
Topographical Mapping: Generate detailed topographical maps of the mine site using the data acquired from the drone survey. This helped in understanding the terrain and planning for future mining activities.
3D Modeling: Develop a 3D model of the mine site to visualize the terrain, identify potential areas for resource extraction, and plan site logistics. The 3D model was crucial for operational efficiency and safety.
Deliverables:
High-Resolution Ortho Photos: Detailed ortho photos provided an accurate visual representation of the mine site, helping in site analysis and decision-making.
Topographical Maps: Topographical maps generated from drone data allowed for a better understanding of the site’s elevation and terrain features, aiding in efficient resource extraction planning.
3D Site Model: A 3D model of the mine site was created to assist in planning extraction activities, identifying potential hazards, and optimizing operational workflow.
